Instructions to Submit Complete Application Packages Via E-mail

Please send an e-mail with your complete application package attached including all of the following to Business Licensing using the link at the bottom of this page:

  • Completed application form- please complete electronically then print, sign and scan to PDF
  • A copy of the sales contract/invoice(if applicable, include copies of any other marketing materials)

Include if applicable:

  • Copies of work permits and statements regarding length of residency(for any of the officers, owners, partners or directors who are not Canadian citizens or permanent residents residing in Canada).
  • A criminal record check from your home jurisdiction(if applying from out-of-Canada)

Payment of fees:

You may pay by credit card on-line, by credit card or debit card in person at our office, or you may mail a cheque or money order to our office. Please indicate in your e-mail how you intend to process your payment.

Please note, if you intend to process your payment on-line you will be contacted at the e-mail address on your application to complete this transaction.

A security instrument is required for your license - you have several options:

General Surety Bond– The surety company will sign and seal the original document then provide it to you. When you receive it please sign the original and either affix your seal or have your signature witnessed. Send the original, signed surety bond to our office.

Cash Security Agreement with an Irrevocable Letter of Credit- Complete the Cash Security Agreement electronically then print and sign the original and either affix your seal or have your signature witnessed. Send the original, signed and sealed Cash Security Agreement to our office. The financial institution will complete the Irrevocable Letter of Credit and send it to our office.

Cash Security Agreement with Cash- Complete the Cash Security Agreement electronically then print and sign the original and either affix your seal or have your signature witnessed. Send the original, signed Cash Security Agreement and cheque or money order to our office.

Please be advised:

  • Submission of your application package with payment does not guarantee issuance of a license. You are not licensed to operate as a Prepaid Contractor in the Province of Alberta. Please be advised that operating as a Prepaid Contractor in Alberta without the required license is a contravention of the Fair Trading Act and may be subject to enforcement action.
  • Applications are processed in the order received. Due to high workload volumes your file will not be assigned to a Licensing Officer for review until at least 5 business days after payment has been processed. Once the review process has started the time it takes to issue a license is dependent upon the completeness of your application package – please provide all of the required documents promptly. Failure to provide complete information will delay processing of your application. If any missing documentation is not provided in a timely manner, it may result in a refund of your fees and closure of your file. You are welcome to contact our offices to find out the status of your application - please wait at least 5 business days.
