Trade names/sole proprietorships

A trade name owner /sole proprietor's address can be updated by filling out the Declaration of Address Change.  (PDF, 2 pages)

Limited liability partnership (LLP) updates and changes

  • change of representative partners

  • professional approval for partnership
  • extra-provincial limited liability partnerships must also provide proof that a partnership name change has been registered in their home jurisdiction
  • LLPs must also file annual reports to prevent the registration from being cancelled

Cost

Service providers will charge a government fee and a service fee to update your business name registration.

  • your completed form
  • valid ID
  • fee payment

Extra-Provincial Registration in BC or Saskatchewan

If your Alberta LLP  or LP is extra-provincially registered in BC or Saskatchewan, you also need to complete one or more of the following updates:

There is no cost to register a BC or Saskatchewan update but you must send those forms to Alberta Corporate Registry by fax or e-mail at (780) 422-1091 or corp.reg@gov.ab.ca   

Cancelling a business name

You should cancel your business name when:

Cancellation of Extra-Provincial Registration in BC or Saskatchewan

If your Alberta LLP or LP registration has been cancelled and the business is currently extra-provincially registered in BC or Saskatchewan or if your business no longer operates in those provinces, you also need to complete one or more of the following updates:

There is no cost to register a BC or Saskatchewan cancellation but you must send those forms to Alberta Corporate Registry by fax or e-mail at (780) 422-1091 or mailto:corp.reg@gov.ab.ca
