BizPaL Information for Alberta Municipalities

Welcome Alberta Municipalities

What is BizPaL?

BizPaL is a free, online service municipalities can implement to encourage business growth. Entrepreneurs can use BizPaL's simple online question and answer tool to quickly find the licence and permit information they need to start a business. BizPaL generates information about the required municipal, provincial and federal permits including costs, frequency of renewal and links to the forms.

Through partnerships between Industry Canada (external site) and provincial and municipal governments, entrepreneurs are using BizPaL in municipalities in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Nova Scotia, the Yukon and Alberta.

How does it work?

To get a list of the required licences and permits, navigate to the BizPaL site and complete three simple steps:

  • Identify the province and city/town in which the business is operating
  • Select the type of business
  • Answer a series of short questions about the business
